Graceful
Postponed due to COVID-19…Check back for updates on new performance dates in 2021 (fingers crossed)
Love, loss, and Miley Cyrus.
A young woman who’s never had a mother and grown woman who’s never had a daughter find themselves in roles they never expected.
A play by Hayley Ricketson
Directed by Courtney Larkin
Featuring Sarah Cullum as Grace, Bethany Down as Inner Grace, Alice Offley as Rhonda, and Kate Cooper as Inner Rhonda.
When 17-year-old Grace’s alcoholic father checks himself into rehab, she is sent to live with his distant cousin, 38-year-old Rhonda, who had an abortion ten years before. Will they fulfil the roles they’re expected to, or will they find in each other something more complex, more troubling, perhaps even more beautiful?
The production seamlessly blends reality and theatricality, with the women’s Inner Selves embodied onstage and serving as commentators, companions and constant judges, combining spoken word with achingly honest dialogue.
In the post-Weinstein era, as the #metoo and #timesup movements take hold, it’s time to create spaces where women can reclaim their bodies and their sexuality. Graceful opens the can of worms that is female desire in all its complexity and lays it bare across the stage. Emerging playwright Hayley Ricketson (Royal Academy of Dramatic Art) and award-nominated director Courtney Larkin deliver this razor-sharp take on love and desire that will capture your heart.
Flugelman Productions is proud to present a new production of Ricketson’s the provocative play Graceful at the acclaimed Hope Theatre in Islington, following R&D and performances at RADA Festival and the Rosemary Branch Theatre in 2018.
